Wii: a source of stress?
A parcel that eventually arrived:

Dad: What's that?
Me: A Wii
Dad: What's one of them?
Me: That box [points at the console]
Dad: But what's that box?
Me: A Wii!
[Can you see my avoidance tactic here, knowing he will think its a waste of money?]
*Dad resumes close inspection of the cardboard box*
Dad: Its a game! Just who do you think you are, a kid or what?
Me: Yes!
Later he wanted to know why I was out of breath from playing (look, it was boxing). He soon found out, as there's nothing like demonstration by actual participation, and he gave up. However, after much coaxing on my part he then tried Bowling and Golf. Little did I know he would become a bigger addict than I, refusing to give up the remote and actually trying to take over my game of golf.
Then got mum to join in bowls, she was reluctant. To start with, her scores were low, way behind dad and I. Halfway through the game she got the hang of it and on her FIRST GO, she bypassed both of us, beating both dad and I. In fact I got the lowest score. Here's the result (picture quality bad, blame the tv which appears to scroll some black lines when looking through a camera lens):

My Twitter message about an hour ago read, " Totally embarrassed that both mum & dad beat me on Wii. Mum got top score. Must try harder".
Now everyone thinks its a source of amusement. I cannot be beaten on a video game by pensioners. And I don't care if that makes me ageist.

Typical!! :p
(PS: Get practising!)

To be entirely fair on myself, I had sprained my wrist at this point - Wii! - and my shoulder was still protesting (RSI). I had scored higher earlier, however being beaten by one's parents is not on.
I will seek to become a better Wiier(!)
