That Welsh Place With A Very Long Name.

Last week I had to go to Anglesey for a funeral. Not too far from the church you could see the Elephant mountain across the Menai Straits:

Elephant

This mountain was visible from my uncle's house, as well as Snowdonia; and brought back many memories of time spent in north Wales. Afterwards I landed in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch:

I've been there before, indeed we had family friends living there, however I never had any photos of the place. Just to please the masses, I decided to grit my teeth through tourist trap central, and rectify. When people find out you're Welsh they invariably ask "Have you been to that place with the long name? Can you say it?" For the record, yes I can; its not difficult. Just get your LL in, and you're sorted. Forget our capital city, its a placewithaverylongnametheyonlyknowabout. A bog standard compulsory question, that you can see hurling towards you long before it happens.

(For those people who responded to my Twitter message, I only brought two postcards - sorry - I had left before the rest of you had replied. However, I will probably go past Llanfairpwll again in June, en route to Dublin; will try and do a very small detour).

Afterwards I walked 115 steps to the top of the Marquess of Anglesey's column, finished in 1817, to mark the Battle of Waterloo of two years earlier:

In true funeral style, the day was rather grey, but the north Wales scenery never fails in the dramatic stakes:

There's no justice

That doesn't do the scenery justice, and it was a million times more dramatic. Instead this picture looks way too grey, one day I will get that SLR and shoot in RAW. More photos on my Flickr account.

FABBBBBB photos!! xx

My aunty have been trying to teach me how to say LL's but haven't been too successful (I don't think she'll ever make a good speech therapist anyway!)

Maybe you can tell me whenever we meet whenever that may be!
