Accessing the ambulance service

Nee Naw has a post about a call from a Deaf person calling the ambulance service. Worth a read to get an operator's experience.

Calling an ambulance is only half the fun, try getting communication support when you get there ! We get directives not to bother before 8am or after 4pm or at weekends because there's no support staff available then, and NO I don't support the use of untrained people or relatives, it stifles demand. Current status is to find your own way to hospital and take a book and pencil with you, ahhhhh the joys of being deaf !
